This Hominy Picadillo brings a fun texture and sabor into your mouth with plump Juanita’s Hominy, savory ground beef, and colorful veggies. It’s a hearty, flavorful twist on a classic that’s sure to become a new favorite in your recipe book!


  • 1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Mexican Style Hominy or Juanita’s White Hominy, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp. avocado oil
  • 16 oz. ground beef
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tbsp. guajillo chile powder
  • 1 tbsp. tomato bouillon
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper
  • 2 Yukon Gold potatoes, diced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1/4 cup of water


  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat and add the beef, breaking it up into smaller pieces as it cooks.
  2. Stir in the onion, garlic, and spices, cooking for 5-7 minutes until fragrant and the beef is browned.
  3. Incorporate the potatoes, tomatoes, bell pepper, and hominy, ensuring everything is thoroughly combined.
  4. Pour in the water, cover the pan with a lid, and simmer over low heat for 12-15 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Serve this hearty dish with rice and savor every bite!
