Hominy Fresaflan

Para el Pastel:
1 taza de Hominy de Juanita's, enjuagado

450 grs. de harina
1 cda. de polvo de hornear
1/2 taza de azúcar
1 taza de leche entera
4 huevos medianos
1/2 taza de mantequilla a temperatura ambiente
Colorante alimentario rosa

Para el Flan:
1 lata de leche condensada
1 lata de leche evaporada
1 lata de media crema
1 cdta. de esencia de vainilla
1 barra de queso crema
4 huevos
1 taza de azúcar

1. Precalienta el horno a 350°F (175°C).
2. Mezcla harina, polvo de hornear, Hominy, 4 huevos, azúcar, leche, aceite y colorante en una licuadora.
3. Derrite azúcar en una sartén para hacer caramelo y viértelo en un molde para hornear.
4. Vierte la mezcla de la licuadora sobre el caramelo en el molde.
5. Haz el flan mezclando leche condensada, evaporada, media crema, vainilla, queso crema y huevos en la licuadora.
6. Vierte el flan sobre la mezcla de pastel en el molde y cúbrelo con papel aluminio.
7. Hornea en baño María durante 1 hora y 40 minutos.
8. Deja que se enfríe antes de desmoldarlo.

Hominy Fresaflan

Para el Pastel:
1 taza de Hominy de Juanita`s, enjuagado

Hominy Asado de Puerco

For the Asado:
1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Hominy
1 tbsp. vegetal oil
2-3 pounds pork tenderloin, cut into cubes
2 tbsp. chicken bouillon
1 tbsp. onion salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. Mexican oregano
½ tsp. ground cumin
½ white onion, thinly sliced
2 Yukon gold potatoes
2 bay leaves

For the Chile Rojo:
2 tbsp. vegetal oil
4 ancho chiles, stems and seeds removed
6-8 guajillo chiles, stems and seeds removed
5 chiles de arbol (optional)
½ white onion
8 small tomatillos
2 Roma tomatoes
4 garlic cloves
4 cups water

1. Fry dried chiles briefly, then set aside.
2. Cook onion, tomatillos, and tomatoes for 5-6 minutes.
3. Add garlic, and cook for 2 more minutes.
4. Return chiles to the pan, add water, and boil to rehydrate chiles for 10-15 minutes.
5. Cool the mixture, then blend until smooth.
6. Sauté diced pork until browned.
7. Add spices, onion, potatoes, and Hominy; cook for 5-7 minutes.
8. Pour in chile sauce, add water, and bay leaves.
9. Mix, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes on low heat.
10. Adjust salt to taste.

Buttery Hominy Japaleño Tacos

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Hominy
2 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 serrano pepper, diced
¼ red onion, diced
Salt (to taste)
Tortillas

1. Rinse and drain the Juanita’s Hominy.
2. Heat a skillet over medium heat, then add the butter and olive oil.
3. Once the butter has melted, toss in the diced onion and serrano pepper.
4. Sauté until the onion turns translucent.
5. Incorporate the rinsed and drained Juanita’s Hominy into the skillet, and continue sautéing.
6. Season with salt to taste.
7. Serve in tacos and enjoy!

1 cebolla blanca, picada
3 dientes de ajo, picados

10 tazas de caldo de pollo
1 cucharadita de orégano seco
2 ramitas de cilantro
2 zanahorias, peladas y cortadas en cubitos

1. Corta el pollo y sazona. Escurre el Hominy y corta las zanahorias.
2. Sofríe el pollo y reserva. Luego, dora los chiles.
3. Sofríe la cebolla y el ajo, luego añade el chile molido.
4. Vuelve a agregar el pollo y vierte el caldo. Añade orégano y chile.
5. Licua una taza de Hominy con caldo y vierte en la olla.
6. Añade el Hominy escurrido, sal y cilantro. Cocina 30 min.
7. Agrega las zanahorias y cocina 15 min.

Hominy & Fish Ceviche

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Hominy, rinsed and drained
500 grams of raw white fish (snook), cut into cubes
2 tomatoes, diced
2 serrano peppers, thinly sliced
1/2 red onion, chopped
150 grams of cilantro, finely chopped
2 cups lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
Pepper (to taste)

1. Rinse the cubed snook thoroughly and let it drain. Once drained, place it in a bowl with the lemon juice and let it marinate for 30 minutes. Add salt and pepper.
2. Allow it to marinate while you chop the other ingredients, or for approximately 30 minutes.
3. Transfer the marinated mixture of fish and lemon juice into a serving bowl. Add the diced tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and serrano pepper, and mix gently.
4. Add Juanita’s Hominy to the bowl with the other ingredients.
5. Check for salt and pepper.

Hominy Carne en su Jugo

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita's Hominy
3 green onions (scallions)
3 pepper güeros
2-3 pounds of solid beef meat, cut into small cubes
250 grams of bacon
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
Salt and pepper (to taste)

For the green sauce:
8 tomatillos (green)
1/2 white onion
2 fresh jalapeños
1 serrano
2 cloves of garlic
1 bunch of cilantro
1 tsp. oregano
Salt (to taste)
1 chicken bouillon cube
Water for blending

1. Blend tomatillos, onion, jalapeños, serrano pepper, garlic, and cilantro until smooth.
2. Chop bacon into small pieces.
3. Cook bacon until crispy; remove and set aside.
4. Sauté green onions, pepper güeros, and garlic in bacon fat; reserve.
5. Brown beef cubes in the same pot; add salt.
6. Add green sauce, cooked bacon, onions, chiles güeros, and Juanita's Hominy. Cook briefly.
7. Pour in green sauce; mix well.
8. Add chicken bouillon cube, oregano, salt, and pepper.
9. Simmer until thickened and darker in color, stirring occasionally.
10. Adjust seasoning if needed; simmer for a few more minutes.

Hominy Carne en su Jugo

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita`s Hominy
3 green onions (scallions)
3 pepper güeros
2-3 pounds of solid beef meat, cut into small cubes
250 grams of bacon
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
Salt and pepper (to taste)

For the green sauce:
8 tomatillos (green)
1/2 white onion
2 fresh jalapeños
1 serrano
2 cloves of garlic
1 bunch of cilantro
1 tsp. oregano
Salt (to taste)
1 chicken bouillon cube
Water for blending

1. Blend tomatillos, onion, jalapeños, serrano pepper, garlic, and cilantro until smooth.
2. Chop bacon into small pieces.
3. Cook bacon until crispy; remove and set aside.
4. Sauté green onions, pepper güeros, and garlic in bacon fat; reserve.
5. Brown beef cubes in the same pot; add salt.
6. Add green sauce, cooked bacon, onions, chiles güeros, and Juanita`s Hominy. Cook briefly.
7. Pour in green sauce; mix well.
8. Add chicken bouillon cube, oregano, salt, and pepper.
9. Simmer until thickened and darker in color, stirring occasionally.
10. Adjust seasoning if needed; simmer for a few more minutes.

Hominy & Poblano Salad

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Hominy, drained
1 head of Romaine lettuce, chopped
1/2 red onion, chopped
3 ribs of celery, chopped
1 large poblano pepper, diced
2 tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
6 radishes, sliced
2 boneless chicken breasts, seasoned grilled and chopped
5 slices of crisp bacon, crumbled

For the cumin dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 tsp. cumin
2 tsp. sugar
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 tsp. black pepper

1. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, pressed garlic, cumin, sugar, lime juice, and black pepper until well combined. Refrigerate to chill.

2. Chop and prepare all the vegetables, including the Romaine lettuce, red onion, celery, poblano pepper, tomatoes, pecans, radishes, grilled chicken breasts, and crisp bacon. Add Juanita's Hominy and serve them all in a large salad bowl. 
3. Once the chicken and bacon have cooled, add the diced pieces to the salad bowl. Then, add the prepared Cumin Dressing.
4. Toss all the ingredients together until evenly coated with the dressing.

Hominy Fresaflan

Para el Pastel:
1 taza de Hominy de Juanita's, enjuagado

450 grs. de harina
1 cda. de polvo de hornear
1/2 taza de azúcar
1 taza de leche entera
4 huevos medianos
1/2 taza de mantequilla a temperatura ambiente
Colorante alimentario rosa

Para el Flan:
1 lata de leche condensada
1 lata de leche evaporada
1 lata de media crema
1 cdta. de esencia de vainilla
1 barra de queso crema
4 huevos
1 taza de azúcar

1. Precalienta el horno a 350°F (175°C).
2. Mezcla harina, polvo de hornear, Hominy, 4 huevos, azúcar, leche, aceite y colorante en una licuadora.
3. Derrite azúcar en una sartén para hacer caramelo y viértelo en un molde para hornear.
4. Vierte la mezcla de la licuadora sobre el caramelo en el molde.
5. Haz el flan mezclando leche condensada, evaporada, media crema, vainilla, queso crema y huevos en la licuadora.
6. Vierte el flan sobre la mezcla de pastel en el molde y cúbrelo con papel aluminio.
7. Hornea en baño María durante 1 hora y 40 minutos.
8. Deja que se enfríe antes de desmoldarlo.

2 tbsp. vegetal oil
4 ancho chiles, stems and seeds removed
6-8 guajillo chiles, stems and seeds removed
5 chiles de arbol (optional)
½ white onion
8 small tomatillos
2 Roma tomatoes
4 garlic cloves
4 cups water

1. Fry dried chiles briefly, then set aside.
2. Cook onion, tomatillos, and tomatoes for 5-6 minutes.
3. Add garlic, and cook for 2 more minutes.
4. Return chiles to the pan, add water, and boil to rehydrate chiles for 10-15 minutes.
5. Cool the mixture, then blend until smooth.
6. Sauté diced pork until browned.
7. Add spices, onion, potatoes, and Hominy; cook for 5-7 minutes.
8. Pour in chile sauce, add water, and bay leaves.
9. Mix, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes on low heat.
10. Adjust salt to taste.

Sopa de Hominy y Pollo

4 tazas de Hominy de Juanita’s, escurrido
2 pechugas de pollo deshuesadas, cortadas en cubos
2 cucharadas de aceite
Sal, ajo en polvo y pimienta (al gusto)
3 chiles guajillo
1 cebolla blanca, picada
3 dientes de ajo, picados
3 cucharadas de chile seco molido
10 tazas de caldo de pollo
1 cucharadita de orégano seco
2 ramitas de cilantro
2 zanahorias, peladas y cortadas en cubitos

1. Corta el pollo y sazona. Escurre el Hominy y corta las zanahorias.
2. Sofríe el pollo y reserva. Luego, dora los chiles.
3. Sofríe la cebolla y el ajo, luego añade el chile molido.
4. Vuelve a agregar el pollo y vierte el caldo. Añade orégano y chile.
5. Licua una taza de Hominy con caldo y vierte en la olla.
6. Añade el Hominy escurrido, sal y cilantro. Cocina 30 min.
7. Agrega las zanahorias y cocina 15 min.

Sopa de Hominy y Pollo

4 tazas de Hominy de Juanita’s, escurrido
2 pechugas de pollo deshuesadas, cortadas en cubos
2 cucharadas de aceite
Sal, ajo en polvo y pimienta (al gusto)
3 chiles guajillo
1 cebolla blanca, picada
3 dientes de ajo, picados
3 cucharadas de chile seco molido
10 tazas de caldo de pollo
1 cucharadita de orégano seco
2 ramitas de cilantro
2 zanahorias, peladas y cortadas en cubitos

1. Corta el pollo y sazona. Escurre el Hominy y corta las zanahorias.
2. Sofríe el pollo y reserva. Luego, dora los chiles.
3. Sofríe la cebolla y el ajo, luego añade el chile molido.
4. Vuelve a agregar el pollo y vierte el caldo. Añade orégano y chile.
5. Licua una taza de Hominy con caldo y vierte en la olla.
6. Añade el Hominy escurrido, sal y cilantro. Cocina 30 min.
7. Agrega las zanahorias y cocina 15 min.

Hominy & Fish Ceviche

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Hominy, rinsed and drained
500 grams of raw white fish (snook), cut into cubes
2 tomatoes, diced
2 serrano peppers, thinly sliced
1/2 red onion, chopped
150 grams of cilantro, finely chopped
2 cups lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
Pepper (to taste)

1. Rinse the cubed snook thoroughly and let it drain. Once drained, place it in a bowl with the lemon juice and let it marinate for 30 minutes. Add salt and pepper.
2. Allow it to marinate while you chop the other ingredients, or for approximately 30 minutes.
3. Transfer the marinated mixture of fish and lemon juice into a serving bowl. Add the diced tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and serrano pepper, and mix gently.
4. Add Juanita’s Hominy to the bowl with the other ingredients.
5. Check for salt and pepper.

Hominy Carne en su Jugo

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita's Hominy
3 green onions (scallions)
3 pepper güeros
2-3 pounds of solid beef meat, cut into small cubes
250 grams of bacon
1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
Salt and pepper (to taste)

For the green sauce:
8 tomatillos (green)
1/2 white onion
2 fresh jalapeños
1 serrano
2 cloves of garlic
1 bunch of cilantro
1 tsp. oregano
Salt (to taste)
1 chicken bouillon cube
Water for blending

1. Blend tomatillos, onion, jalapeños, serrano pepper, garlic, and cilantro until smooth.
2. Chop bacon into small pieces.
3. Cook bacon until crispy; remove and set aside.
4. Sauté green onions, pepper güeros, and garlic in bacon fat; reserve.
5. Brown beef cubes in the same pot; add salt.
6. Add green sauce, cooked bacon, onions, chiles güeros, and Juanita's Hominy. Cook briefly.
7. Pour in green sauce; mix well.
8. Add chicken bouillon cube, oregano, salt, and pepper.
9. Simmer until thickened and darker in color, stirring occasionally.
10. Adjust seasoning if needed; simmer for a few more minutes.

Hominy & Poblano Salad

1 can (25 oz.) Juanita’s Hominy, drained
1 head of Romaine lettuce, chopped
1/2 red onion, chopped
3 ribs of celery, chopped
1 large poblano pepper, diced
2 tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
6 radishes, sliced
2 boneless chicken breasts, seasoned grilled and chopped
5 slices of crisp bacon, crumbled

For the cumin dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 tsp. cumin
2 tsp. sugar
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 tsp. black pepper

1. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, pressed garlic, cumin, sugar, lime juice, and black pepper until well combined. Refrigerate to chill.

2. Chop and prepare all the vegetables, including the Romaine lettuce, red onion, celery, poblano pepper, tomatoes, pecans, radishes, grilled chicken breasts, and crisp bacon. Add Juanita's Hominy and serve them all in a large salad bowl. 
3. Once the chicken and bacon have cooled, add the diced pieces to the salad bowl. Then, add the prepared Cumin Dressing.
4. Toss all the ingredients together until evenly coated with the dressing.

Hominy Rajas con Crema

1 can (25 oz.) of Juanita’s Hominy, washed and drained
5 poblano peppers, washed
1/2 onion, sliced
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 cup of sour cream
Garlic salt and pepper (to taste)
Cheese of your preference
Tortillas or tostadas to accompany

1. Roast the poblano peppers on a griddle. When they are all toasted, put them in a plastic bag with a pinch of salt. Close the bag and let them sweat for 10 minutes.
2. Take out the sweated peppers, peel them, and remove all the seeds inside the poblano. Once clean, cut them into strips.
3. Add the vegetable oil to a pot and heat it.
4. When the oil is hot, add the onion. When it is translucent, add the poblano pepper strips. Mix well.
5. Add the drained can of Juanita’s Hominy and mix.
6. Pour in the cup of sour cream and mix thoroughly.
7. Add the chicken bouillon cube, garlic salt, and pepper. Mix and adjust the salt to taste.
8. Your strips are now ready to be enjoyed on a tostada or as a taco in a tortilla.

1/2 onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp. olive oil
Salt and pepper (to taste)
3 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 bunch of cilantro

1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
2. Once the oil is heated through, add the onions, celery, and garlic. Cook until they become slightly soft and translucent, but not mushy.
3. Add the Hominy, salt, and pepper, and heat through.
4. Remove from the heat, then add lime juice, and sprinkle with cilantro. Serve.
