Hominy Esquites with Chorizo

This savory side dish combines the richness of chorizo with Juanita’s Hominy, perfectly seasoned and topped for an extra delightful addition to any meal!


  • 2 cans (25 oz. each) Juanita’s Mexican Style Hominy or Juanita’s White Hominy, drained (2×708 g.)
  • 12 oz. Mexican style chorizo, casing removed (340 g.)
  • Your favorite spice blend, or salt & pepper (to taste)
  • ½ cup Mexican crema (120 ml.)
  • ¼ cup grated queso fresco (23 g.)
  • Chile powder for garnish
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish
  • Fresh lime wedges for garnish


  1. Heat a large Dutch oven or skillet; brown the chorizo for about 8 minutes.
  2. Add Juanita’s Hominy and toss together with the chorizo.
  3. Sauté for 1-2 minutes and then remove from the heat.
  4. Season with your favorite spice blend and/or salt and pepper.
  5. Serve in individual cups garnished with Mexican crema, queso fresco, chile powder, chopped cilantro and lime wedges.
